From the desk of Senator Jackson

Greetings friends,

Although Georgia has begun the phase of reopening, I am glad to see most are acting responsibly in trying their best to curtail the spread of COVID-19. I would also like to thank the Mayor of Savannah for organizing a new program designed to safely rebuild our city following the adverse economic impact of the coronavirus.

As many of you know, Georgia is grieving over the loss of our son, Ahmaud Arbery. Anger, hurt, rage, sadness and disbelief are just a few words that come to mind when recognizing how poorly this entire incident was handled in our “modern” society. I recently stood with my brothers and sisters within the Georgia General Assembly, as we called on Governor Kemp and others to do their part to ensure justice is served. You can see my full speech below which was given during a rally we held in Ahmaud’s honor in Brunswick.

Again, I remind you that as we navigate our “new normal,” if you choose to venture out, please use best hygienic practices so that we can curtail the spread of COVID-19. If you need anything at all, please feel free to contact me anytime. It is a great honor to serve you and our home within the Georgia General Assembly and I thank you for giving me the opportunity to do so.

Respectfully,
Lester Jackson
Senator of the 2nd
